The RINSED crew was out at the HOB Anaheim to check out one of the islands premier reggae bands, The Green 808. We were excited for their live show as we are big fans of their music and really enjoy live performances.
The House Of Blues is a nice venue and can be an intimate experience as it is easy to get close to the stage. We missed the opening bands and arrived at the perfect time, about 10 minutes before The Green came on stage.
The Green 808 came out to a ramped up crowd and went into the standard reggae melody that is a staple for most reggae bands to open with. Palm trees were the theme and the background gave us that island feeling as they got the roots flowing. They did not disappoint, were really tight and sounded fantastic. The beginning of the show was mostly about their older tracks. They jammed out a good amount of t material and got the crowd going in the right direction.
“Take Me On” was the first highlight since it is one of our favorite reggae songs. The second highlight was when they played “Power In Words.” The crowed was really receptive and was pretty ramped up for it. There are so many dynamics to this song and the power of the positive message vibrated throughout.
Pretty soon it was time for the encore and they did not disappoint. They came out with “Alive” from their first album and then into “Good One.” “Good One” is a top class reggae tune. They use slightly modified version of the “Far East” Riddim” for this one so it immediately caught our attention. The Far East Riddim has so many good songs on it that if you are going to use it then you better de it right…. And they do. Perfect send off.
RINSED is a huge fan of reggae music and The Green are one of our most played artists. If you they come to your town then make sure you check them out.
